For our incoming first-year MHA students, we have three updates for you to prepare:
Course Registration:
Students must register for all courses in the program. While courses are reserved for MHA students, It is your responsibility to ensure your registration is kept up to date. Please login to the Student Service Centre and register for the following courses in Term 1, Winter Session 2013-14:
SPHA 510, sec. 101- Canadian Health Policy
SPHA 551, sec. 201- Design and Measurement I
SPHA 543, sec. 201 – IT for Management
SPHA 503, sec. 201 – Financial Accounting
If you are unfamiliar with the UBC SSC, you can watch video tutorials (bottom left of the page) for instructions on how to register for classes.
Access to UBC Connect:
Your course registration is linked to your access to UBC Connect, UBC’s online platform for students and instructors in addition to your class time. Note that your instructors are posting material in advance of the start of classes in September. It is expected that you review these materials as noted. You will not have access to the courses via Connect if you are not registered in the class.
MHA Orientation:
Students must attend our MHA Orientation on September 13. This one-hour session will be held prior to the start of classes. At this session, we’ll discuss UBC and program-specific information with MHA program staff to ensure your successful start in the program.
Who: All incoming MHA students
What: An overview of the MHA program for incoming students, including program policies, resources and frequently asked questions.
When: 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm, September 13, 2013
Where: Room C130, UBC Robson Square
Please note that this session is mandatory. Refreshments will be served.
Additional optional SPPH and UBC Orientation events:
MHA students are also invited to attend a school-wide orientation on Tuesday, September 3, with a general introduction from the Director of the School of Population and Public Health from 9:00 to 11:00 am. The session will be held in Room D300, Chemistry Building, 2036 Main Mall. For more information, contact us.
The Faculty of Graduate Studies also hosts a variety of orientation sessions for graduate students. Details are online.
