HR/Strategic Management – SPHA 522 and SPHA 561

It is people, not companies that innovate, make decisions, develop and produce new products and serve customers. The capacity to implement health care services relies on people working together for patients, making human resources strategies a key management concept.

In SPHA 522 Strategic Human Resources Management (MHA Year Two), students learn the importance of aligning the management of human resources with organizational strategy. The course will explore the key aspects of forming & maintaining a work force. Topics will be considered from the perspectives of employment law; impacts of unions and collective bargaining, and progressive human resource management.

SPHA 561 Strategic Management (MHA Year Two) will prepare students to develop a managerial approach to analyzing broad business problems and developing strategies that create competitive advantages. Students will analyze case studies and recommend a course of action to senior management.
